ALP MP to attend AU Summit in Ethiopia
Mr. Michael will serve as an advisor on the St Kitts and Nevis delegation to the Summit which will be headed by Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas who was elected for an unprecedented fourth straight term earlier this week.
The Leaders and Presidents of the African Continent are expected to discuss a range of important issues in the advancement of the African Union towards securing progress and prosperity for the African people
In the continuing effort by the African leaders to strengthen solidarity and cooperation between the African continent and the Caribbean region, the Heads of Government of CARICOM have been invited to the AU Summit 2010.
A number of CARICOM leaders attended last year’s Summit in recognition of the keen Caribbean interest in Africa; the sense of Caribbean pride in its African heritage and the blood links that Caribbean people have with the people of Africa .
The African Union’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti is expected to be a priority agenda item for the three day meeting in the Ethiopian capital.
Mr. Michael leaves for the Addis Ababa Summit on Saturday January 30th, 2010.
